Afghan Halal Market in Houston provides high-quality halal food. A trusted local favorite, verified for authenticity.
"This place is not a real halal market. They sell old meat and expired products, and the customer service is awful. The staff don’t respect anyone and seem to care only about taking your money. Prices are way higher than other Afghan stores—for example, lamb meat is $15/lb here but only $12/lb at Dukan Arabic Store. Sometimes they even scan items twice, so you end up paying more without realizing it. On top of that, there are always people hanging around inside the store without buying anything, bothering female customers. Honestly, I hate this place. My advice to everyone, especially Afghan customers: don’t waste your money here. There are plenty of better stores where you’ll be treated fairly."
"Misleading Chicken/Meat Labels: Not Fresh! Pad-Flavored Meat Repacked Over and Over I asked the guy behind the counter for two chickens, but he refused and told me to grab them from the shelf instead. I specifically requested fresh chicken from the walk-in fridge, but he flat out refused and insisted I take the pre-packed ones, claiming he had “just packed them.” From past experience, I know the shelved chicken has a strange taste. After doing some research, I found out it comes from the absorbent pad under the meat. What he really meant by “just packed” was that they simply repack the same chicken over and over, slapping on a new “packed on” date sticker every day. Meanwhile, the meat sits there for who knows how long until it starts absorbing that pad’s taste. This practice is misleading and unacceptable. I walked out without buying anything, even though I needed other items like flour and oil. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere."
"This place is horrible, they are making ashamed Afghanistan food and recipe, the qabuly palaw is not the way of Afghan choice and the zero taste and the rice is looking like peices of rock, I don’t recommend this place to anyone as Afghanistan choice food place."
