American Halal Markets in Brooklyn provides high-quality halal food. A trusted local favorite, verified for authenticity.
"This halal meat shop is located inside Villagers Farmers Market in Brooklyn. It originally opened under the name Umer’s Zabihah Halal, and the signage and stickers inside still say “100% Zabiha Halal.” However, the Google listing shows American Halal Markets, which is confusing and misleading. I have been buying chicken here for years believing it was Zabiha Halal, based on their marketing and banners. Recently, a worker clearly told me that their chicken parts are machine-slaughtered and NOT Zabiha. When I asked why the store still advertises “100% Zabiha Halal” without disclosing machine slaughter, I did not receive a clear answer. I requested they add a clear label stating “machine-slaughtered chicken” so customers can make informed decisions. I returned days later and nothing had changed (photos attached). Using religious halal marketing while selling non-Zabiha, machine-slaughtered chicken without transparency is unethical and misleading. Zabiha is a religious requirement for many customers, not a preference. If I am incorrect, I invite the owner or management to respond publicly and clarify. If proven wrong, I will delete this review and apologize. I have also informed management of Villagers Market and expect them to look into this issue."
"Best meat market and was really impressed. I’ve always eaten only the cod fish I already knew, but this shop introduced me to new varieties—like Rao and others—that I had never tried before. The fish was incredibly fresh and tasty, and I’m so glad I discovered new options I now enjoy. What really stood out to me was their customer service. They take great care of their customers, are very friendly, and the shop is clean with a wide variety of meats. Overall, one of the best customer service experiences I’ve had. Highly recommended!"
"I bought two Hilsha/ilish fishes from them, and they were good. It is also inside the larger grocery store. when the store opened, the prices were low. now, the prices went up a lot. my mom bought vegetables which had higher prices than she expected... I was surprised too"
